Academics make the grade

The University of ÐÂÀË²ÊÆ± will help promote Premier Mike Rann's pledge to make South Australia the "Education State" when 13 lecturers don student hats and obtain their Graduate Certificate in Higher Education on Monday 31 July.
The program, offered by the , is the only one of its kind in South Australia and equips university lecturers with additional teaching expertise.
Academics from Anthropology, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Dentistry, Electronic Engineering, English, Evaluations, Labour Research, Molecular Science, Nursing and Political Science make up the field of 13 graduands, three of whom have won major teaching awards.
(English) has received a Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning; while Ms Lynn Rogers and Dr Michelle Coulson from the have won .
Dr John Willison, Coordinator of the Graduate Certificate in High Education, says the course has given graduands more advanced teaching skills, with students ultimately benefiting.
"The course has had major positive impacts on their teaching and subsequently on their students. It also demonstrates the University of ÐÂÀË²ÊÆ±'s commitment to higher education teaching and learning," Dr Willison says.
The graduating class of lecturers will be presented with their certificates at 2.30pm on Monday 31 July in the Bonython Hall, University of ÐÂÀË²ÊÆ±.
