New Pro Vice-Chancellor to focus on learning and quality

The University of ÐÂÀË²ÊÆ± has appointed Professor Birgit Lohmann to the newly created position of Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Quality) in a bid to enhance ÐÂÀË²ÊÆ±'s already strong reputation in these areas.

The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Quality) is a senior leadership role aimed at strengthening the University's performance in its core values of learning, teaching, and quality assurance.

Professor Lohmann is currently Director of the and a former head of the School of Science at . Her research interests are in electron and positron (antimatter) physics.

A graduate of the University of ÐÂÀË²ÊÆ± (First-Class Honours in Science, 1979) and Flinders University (PhD in Atomic and Molecular Physics, 1984), Professor Lohmann has been with Griffith University since 1990. She has been involved in efforts to recognise and boost excellence in learning and teaching at Griffith.
