$9 million of research targets major health issues

University of ÐÂÀË²ÊÆ± led projects have received $9,401,459 to investigate a range of health issues such as how low-calorie sweeteners affect people with type 2 diabetes, using bioengineered tissue to rebuild eyes and the effectiveness of water fluoridation as a public health initiative.

One in three Australian adults has untreated tooth decay

Almost one quarter of adults rated their oral health as fair or poor, and one in five adults experienced toothache.

A third of Australian adults aged 15 years or more has untreated tooth decay, results of a national oral health study led by the Australian Research Centre for Population Oral Health (ARCPOH) at the University of ÐÂÀË²ÊÆ± show.
