Master of Property

From my internship experience as a Project Administration Assistant at Career Services, I was fortunate enough to be a part of the International Project Team and received first-hand information about the recruitment procedures and job markets in Australia and China. During these three months, I have also learnt useful knowledge of how an international project or event can be operated from planning to completion and what should be considered in each stage. I was inspired by connecting with industry professionals from various backgrounds, which enabled me to better understand what types of roles are more suitable for me and what career directions I should pursue in the future. China Career Ready Plus (CCRP) program is such an excellent project for preparing international students to become career-ready. The team members are always friendly, polite and professional. I am so grateful for this opportunity to work closely with them. After this internship, I am more confident to start my next adventure in my career.

Master of Arts (Interpreting, Translation and Transcultural Communication)

I am so grateful to be given the opportunity of anÌýinternship at Career Services because it helped me to hone my professional skills and get a better understanding of workforce culture in Australia. I worked with the international project team as a bilingual translator during my internship. They are so supportive and willing to share their own knowledge and help their interns learn and stay actively involved. As a translation major student, I mainly took charge of the translation for marketing and promotional material as well as the interactive interpreting for the staff exchange program between Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the University of ÐÂÀ˲ÊƱ. Apart from that, I also tried someÌýnew and challenging tasks including job posting, data collection and analysis and emails broadcasted to target student cohorts. This experience was amazing as it offered me the opportunity to get a clearer picture regarding my future career pathway.

Master of Accounting and Finance

In July-November of 2020, I worked as an intern with the international project teamÌýat Career Services. Due to Covid, the internship was in a hybrid working pattern: onsite in the office and working from home, which might beÌýdifferent from what other students have experienced. When working from home, I needed to partake in Zoom meetings and worked independently with minimal supervision. I have become more independent at work and developed skills thatÌýwill be appealing to future employers like multitasking, managing my own time and schedule, and using variousÌýonline tools for virtual meetings and team communications. From the very first day, I was given interesting tasks and comprehensive training across the whole internship.ÌýI sorted data from feedback forms using PivotTable, assisted with event management from planning, organising to reporting, managed client database and advertised employment opportunities to current students and recent grads. I would like to express my enormous gratitude to the team with whom I got to work closely – Tony, Julia and Joanne. This team has a high level of professionalism and is dedicated to helping UofA international students' employability.ÌýI would consider the team as a gathering of friends with whom you can talk about different things during break and after work. I am very glad for the opportunity to be part of such a team!

They are not only workspace supervisors, supportive teachers, but also warm-hearted friends. During the internship, they gave a lot of career advice and helped me improve my data analysis skills, which made me more confident about future careers. With their help, I could practice and grow faster in managing projects likeÌýworkshops and employer events. My responsibilities are like a bridge, transmitting information and connecting resources. As an international student interning at Career Services, I haveÌýthe passion to help students, relieve their anxieties, guide them on better paths and effectively provideÌýsuggestions when needed.ÌýAt work, I compiled a research and analysis report on the WeChat account platforms, hoping to expand the exposure and boost the development of CCRP.
