ÐÂÀË²ÊÆ± University Open Day Volunteer
are the largest and one of the most important student recruitment events, offering future students and their families a first-hand opportunity to explore university life, learn about our academic programs, and connect with the people who make our community special — like you. Open Days in 2025 will be particularly special as it will be the first time hosting the event as ÐÂÀË²ÊÆ± University. But we can’t do it without the support from our university community. We want to make it amazing — and we need your help to do it.
For working on the day, you'll receive a lunch and coffee voucher, an official AU t-shirt (students only), and access to free parking (limited spots available).Event Details
The ÐÂÀË²ÊÆ± City Open Day will be the main feature of the Open Days calendar, with all Study Area programs represented. Open Days will also be held at the outer-metro campuses – Magill, Mawson Lakes, and Roseworthy – to compliment the ÐÂÀË²ÊÆ± City event. These Open Day events are an opportunity for future students to further explore facilities where they may study.ÌýMount Gambier and Whyalla Open Day events will focus on the regional experience and programs offered in our regions.Ìý

The event will span all three city campuses across North Terrace, on Sunday 27 July from 9:00am to 4:00pm, with the east campuses as the heart of the ÐÂÀË²ÊÆ± City Open Day experience. There will be Welcome hubs, dedicated Study Area hubs, a Student Services & Information Hub, Study Area & Campus tours, and Presentation sessions at our ÐÂÀË²ÊÆ± City West and ÐÂÀË²ÊÆ± City West Campuses. - ²Ñ²¹²µ¾±±ô±ôÌý
This event will take place at Magill Campus on Wednesday 13 August from 3:30pm to 7:00pm. There will be a Welcome hub, dedicated Study Area hub, Study Area tours, and Presentation sessions. - Mawson LakesÌý

English Language Centre - Connections Volunteer
The Connections Mate Volunteer acts as a leader and chaperone to enhance ‘student experience’ and provide authentic ‘social connections’ between international students studying at the University of ÐÂÀË²ÊÆ±â€™s English Language Centre (ELC) who have registered their interest to participate with the ELC Connections Program at either internal or external events organised by the ELC.Ìý
Responsibilities
- Must be in attendance with students at all times for the duration of an event or activity.
- Ensure students arrive at the specified location on time, through the appropriate transportation.Ìý
- Ensure students return safely to the designated location upon completion of an event or activity.Ìý
- Be reliable and commit, when indicated, to the duties and times required.
- Timely communication if you cannot commit to an event anymore due to unforeseen circumstances.Ìý
Who can apply?
Applicants can be students, alumni, staff or members of the public with a good standard of spoken English, a clear voice and good listening skills. Knowledge of local area and attractions is beneficial. An ability to interact with people from diverse backgrounds and age groups.Ìý

Front of House - Theatre Guild
The University of ÐÂÀË²ÊÆ±ÌýTheatre GuildÌý('the Guild') is a not-for-profit community theatre company located at the University’s North Terrace campus. The Guild is the second oldest amateur theatre company in South Australia. The Guild prides itself on the quality of all its productions and given its strong link with a globally recognised education institution, places particular importance on supporting student-led productions and fostering a learning environment through workshops, play-readings and events.
The Guild are seeking volunteers to assist with Front of House duties for theirÌý2025 Season. Volunteers will receive a complimentary ticket to the shows they assist with.Ìý
Responsibilities
- Check tickets and assist patronsÌýto their seats
- Provide high quality customer service by assisting patrons with any questions they may have
- Assist with bar service (Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate is required to undertake this duty)
- Some manual handling may be required

Applicants can be students, staff, alumni and general public and no experience is necessary, however a RSA certificate is required if assisting with bar service. Volunteers can choose which production they wish to assist with throughout the 2025 Season.Ìý

HREC Indigenous Representative (Proxy), University of ÐÂÀË²ÊÆ± Human Research Ethics Committee
Please note this is a proxy role that is required only for backfill when the primary representative is unavailable.
The role of the University of ÐÂÀË²ÊÆ± Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) is to protect the welfare and rights of participants in research undertaken at, or in conjunction with, the University of ÐÂÀË²ÊÆ±. This is done in accordance with the NHMRC (National Statement).
The HREC reviews research submissions and considers the ethical implications of proposed research projects on human participants and determines whether they are acceptable on ethical grounds.
The HREC also includes the following membership categories: a chairperson, community members, health professionals, pastoral care representative, indigenous representative, a lawyer and experienced researchers.
Responsibilities
Eligibility
- Current knowledge of research with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, and/or knowledge of indigenous culture.
Skills, expertise, experience, knowledge
- Ability to read and review large research applications and bring a community perspective to meetings.
- A willingness to be an active contributor.
- Experience in reviewing large documents.
- Experience on a committee.

- Available to attend meetings on Monday afternoons and provide out of session review on an ad hoc basis
- Initial 3-year term.
- The HREC meets ten times each year on a Monday; meetings are from 2-5pm.

International Student Support - Talking With Aussies Volunteer
The Talking With Aussies program helps international students improve their conversational English skills. Volunteers come from a range of age groups and backgrounds, and include students, staff, retirees and working professionals.
Responsibilities
- To meet with students an hour a week for a Semester.
- To foster students’ language development, helping them to communicate with confidence, strengthen their pronunciation, and Aussie slang. This will be of a general nature; the program is not a tutoring or editing service.
- To engage in a range of conversation topics which may help the student become more familiar with Australian customs and culture.

Applicants should have a good standard of spoken English, and the ability to interact with people from diverse backgrounds and age groups with a patient and friendly manner. Library Volunteer
The Library Volunteer Group contributes to the University Library’s operations by assisting in the processing and preservation of documents, photographs, newspaper clippings and other archival records. The Group is supported and mentored by a Volunteer Coordinator. Volunteers are provided with a project to suit their skills and as best as possible a task to accommodate their interests. Volunteers may be expected to work as an individual or as part of a team.ÌýWe are currently seeking volunteers for our Thursday group only.
Responsibilities
- Handling, sorting, listing and/or rehousing various record formats, including cassettes, files and volumes
- Enter data from paper documents into an Excel spreadsheet or directly into a database
- Transcribe records (may include handwritten documents or oral recordings)
- Digitise special collections materials for accessibility and/or preservation reasons
- Undertake required training and specific duties as it relates to the role.Ìý

Applicants can be current students, Alumni, staff or public with an interest in special collections. Applicants must have computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel. Applicants must be available on Thursdays and able to attend at least once a fortnight with a minimum commitment of one semester.

Urrbrae House School's History Program
This interactive schools program for primary students is usually held on Wednesday mornings at the Waite Historic Precinct during school term. This program immerses primary school students into the recreated world of 1892. Our volunteers contribute by developing a character through role-play and costumes to help recreate the past for the children.
Responsibilities
- lead children through various activities
- role-play characters from the 1890s
- dress in period costumes from the 1890s
- adhere to the Child Safety Protection Policy and Code of Conduct
- undertake required training and screenings for the role
Who can apply?
Applicants can be alumni, staff or members of the public. This role suits those that have an interest in history and enjoy working with children. Volunteers must have excellent communication skills, be reliable, punctual and committed to the program. Please note that the program runs most Wednesday mornings during school term. This is a long term volunteer role and requires a working with children check before commencement.

Waite Conservation Reserve
The Waite Conservation Reserve is noted as one of the largest and best surviving examples of Grey Box Grassy Woodland in South Australia. Home to more than 200 species of native plants as well as kangaroos, koalas and echidnas, it is a valuable asset to the University of ÐÂÀË²ÊÆ± and the people of South Australia.
The are a group of volunteers who work with the University of ÐÂÀË²ÊÆ± to maintain and improve the natural value of the reserve and the visitor experience.ÌýÌýVolunteers play an important role in the maintenance, rehabilitation and day to day functioning of the reserve through their .
